This week The Ely Standard launches new Think Local/ Buy Local campaign and the first business to feature is Amelie - A great article by Ben Jolley in the Ely Standard Newspaper.
Why do you think supporting local shops and businesses is important?
Alex Crepy says: We believe it’s essential to support local restaurants, as we each bring our own unique flavors, creativity, and cultural identity to the area. Unlike chain restaurants, we offer a distinctive dining experience that reflects the character of our community.
By employing local people, we help sustain small businesses, keeping money circulating within the local economy. Additionally, we source ingredients from nearby farms—such as the Stuntney Estate—ensuring fresher, high-quality, and more sustainable produce.
Independent restaurants also add to the charm and vibrancy of an area, enhancing the local community while attracting visitors and boosting the local economy. Think local / Buy local!

Alex Crepy says: We are committed to serving high-quality food at great value. At Amelie at Ben’s Yard, our menus throughout the day offer a tempting selection of freshly prepared dishes made from the finest ingredients. Led by Rory Landells, our kitchen team also crafts a variety of fresh salads, quiches, and pastries for the Café.
